Now as you all know, I'm absolutely in love with the Loreal HIP line, the pigmentation is wonderful and I love the blendability. I could go on for hours about all the wonderful things about it, but that will be a video at a later time. So, now into what this blog is actually about. A comparison between the HIP paint in secretive and MAC's paint in bare canvas
You all know me and my love for bargin hunting. So when I first saw the paints I got all excited and thought to myself "Gee, loreal is really getting into this stuff, they're duping a lot of the MAC products" So I had to splurge for the paint. Now I got a buy one get one so I still got a deal, but I was more excited for getting a potential dupe of a MAC product.
So I got back into my house all excited and open the product and right away tried to swatch it. I bought secreative because it seemed like the closest match to the MAC paint I already owned. So I swatched them on my hand they were an exact match color wise I was quite happy. I did notice a fair amount of glitter but at first glance I was okay with it. After swatching the two on a note card the HIP still seemed like a perfect dupe.
However my hopes were soon crushed after I used it a few times. IT MAKES A HORRIBLE BASE. It doesn't add any holding power, nor does it really dry. It keeps a constant oily feel. I don't really care for it. I've used it about 10 times and here is my over aall opinion of it:
Product: 1 out of 5
Packaging: 3 out of 5
Quality: 2 out of 5
Overall: 2 out of 5
Would I buy again? No, it's really not worth it. It's a waste of money. Perhaps I could take up oil painting with it.
Where to buy:Like all of the HIP products check out your local drugstore and Ulta has a fine selection of loreal HIP stuff.
Price: Around $7
PROS:
-if you're looking for a very glittery base it's wonderful.
-the color intially before rubbing in is a great nude base.
-I feel kinda like a jerk if I don't put SOMETHING good, but really there isn't anything good about this product.
CONS:
-THIS SUCKS D:
-no pigmentation
-a horrible base
-TOO MUCH GLITTER
-oily
-never really dries
Overall?
So, while this started out to find a dupe for a MAC paint, it failed horribly. However I did learn a lesson, it's worth saving up for the real deal instead of trying to find the cheaper way out. Cheaper isn't ALYWAYS better. So I don't find this product useful at all. It's not a good base and really I feel like I should return it to Michael's as an oil paint.
In short:
THIS IS NOT A MAC DUPE.
I hope this helps

I disagree, HIP Paints are nice.
Maybe your eyelids are just oily.
I own a MAC Paint and it works just as good.
